Victoria Lynne Cornett

Victoria "Vickie" Cornett was a special daughter, sister, wife, aunt, friend, co-worker, dog mom, and Disney enthusiast. Her beautiful soul left this earth at 11 :06 a.m. on October 6, 2022, at the age of 67. She was born as Victoria Lynne Rodriguez to Frank and Delia Rodriguez on July 15, 1955, in Montclair, California. The same month and year her beloved Disneyland opened to the world. Vickie was a compassionate, gentle and caring individual to everyone she came into contact with. She loved her family with all her heart and would make the most of her life sharing time with them through traveling, going to restaurants, watching movies, and antiquing. Even on her most difficult days, her beautiful laugh could make others smile, just ask anyone who knew or worked with her. She would constantly go beyond her job description and radiate light whether in the hospital or people's homes with her smile and hopeful attitude. Vickie's love of nursing came about in caring for her mother who was ill later in life due to complications of rheumatic fever as a young child. Vickie was always willing to learn how to be a good caretaker for her mother and this became such a natural thing for her that it would set up her life for a life of caring and becoming an LVN. She first began working at Chino Community Hospital in 1977. She worked as an LVN in the ICU department. While there, she would prove her excellence in work by receiving "The Frist Humanitarian Award" in 1983. This award was given to her for her 8 years of delivery of quality health care to patients through her compassionate and tender caring ability. Vickie spent a brief period in Arizona and moved back to California in 1992 after her husband passed away. At this time, her mom was sick again and Vickie became her part-time, hospice caretaker. This would lead Vickie into a new nursing direction working in hospice. She created wonderful bonds in homes with her patients and their families who just loved her! After the loss of her father, she would move to Victorville living only 5 minutes away from her sister and brother-in-law. In the following years her aunt and uncle moved to the high desert reuniting the family she dearly loved. She finally settled into Green Valley Hospice where she would meet a team of life long friends, co-workers, families and patients who just adored her!!! In 2019 Vickie received an award for Nurse of the Year at Green Valley Hospice Palliative Care, once again for showing love and caring to the most critical of patients. Vickie is preceded in life by her mother Delia Rodriguez, father Frank Rodriguez; brother Frank Rodriguez Jr., husband Donald Cornett.
