Marsha Carole Whitthorne

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, companion and friend. Marsha Carole Whitthorne was born on April 23, 1944, to Ruby and Martin Whitthorne in Long Beach, California. She grew up in the San Bernardino area, where she began building the strong, independent, and spirited personality that would define her throughout her life. In the late 1980s, she made her home in Orange County—living just minutes away from Disneyland, her “Happiest Place on Earth”—before moving to Victorville in 2019 to be closer to her son, Mark. She spent her final years at Sterling Inn, where she enjoyed her independence, her friendships, and her daily routines. Marsha lived a full and colorful life. In her younger years, she was passionate about bowling, working in local pro shops and traveling the professional bowling circuit with friends. Later, as she raised her granddaughters, Kauai and Laura, she poured her heart into creating stunning Ballet Folklorico dresses by hand—each stitch sewn with love and pride. Her love for Disneyland was unmatched, and her home was filled with Mickey and Minnie treasures that reflected her joyful spirit. And anyone who knew her knew about her devotion to Dr. Pepper—an ice-cold can was never far from her hand. She was also a passionate reader who could spend hours lost in her favorite novels. Marsha’s love extended deeply to her family. She is survived by her devoted companion, Robert Ross; her daughter, DawnMarie Erting (Jeff); her sons, Mark Cutter (Stacee), Tony Kowalczyk, and Jimmy Kowalczyk (Steph); her grandchildren, Kauai (Richard ); Marty, Cody, Gary, Jeffery, Vandal, Laura Maria (Carlos), Brody, Dylan, and Alyssa;Coleen, Chelsea, Cassandra, Breezy, and her great-grandchildren, JammieLee, Felix, Rosie, Ivan, Issiac, and many others who brought her endless joy. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughter, Jammie Lee Cutter; her brother, Phillip; her sister, Angi; and her faithful “Good Boy,” Chewy Alexander. Marsha’s life was a blend of strength, creativity, and unwavering love for those she held dear. Her laughter, wisdom, and “tell-it-like-it-is” honesty will forever be missed. We love you to the moon and back, Grandma—thank you for being our rock, our safe place, and our biggest cheerleader!
