David Ray Allen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

David Ray Allen aged 76 years, born September 14, 1945, in Pontiac, Michigan, departed this earthly realm April 24, 2022, due to complications resulting from late-stage dementia. David, the eldest son of Ray and Edna Allen had a deep love of music, studied the violin and later turned his talents to the mandolin. David had a passion for electronics, particularly in radio communications, and earned an amateur radio operator license (Callsign: WB6CTL): early in life. David served in the United States Navy from October 1962 to July 1970, where he continued the pursuit of his passion for electronics. of his time in the Navy, he was most proud of the two years he served aboard the U.S.S. Ranger CVA-61. In 1965 David met the love of his life, Julia White and the two married August 30, 1969. During their 52 years of marriage the couple remained true to the wedding vows "For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, through sickness and in health". January 2, 1972, David became the proud father of son Travis Allen. After ending his service in the Navy, David continued his career in electronics with General Motors Corporation, Goldstone Deep Space Tracking Station and finally with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway where he worked with dedication for 37 years. During his many years with BNSF Railway, he earned the affectionate and respected nicknames "Dr" and "Radio Man". David will be remembered for many things but not least of which will be his quirky sense of humor and his mostly harmless practical jokes. David Ray Allen was a patriot, musician, hard worker, trusted friend, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and son -Survived by- David is survived by Julia Allen (Wife), Travis Allen (Son), Becky "Willow" Flood (Daughter-in-Law), David "DJ" James Maertz (Grandson), Willow Maertz (Granddaughter), Stepehen Allen (Brother), and Jami Allen (Sister-in-Law), Kathleen Dallas (Sister) and Mike Dallas (Brother-in-Law), Patricia Allen (Sister), Theresa Allen (Sister-in-Law), Randall White (Brother-in-Law) and Virginia Ramirez (Sister-in-Law), and various beloved nieces and nephews. - Preceded in death by- David has been reunited with Ollie Ray Allen (Father), Edna May Allen (Mother), Roger Michael Allen (Brother), and Stephen Michael Allen (Son). While flowers are welcome, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of David will be greatly appreciated.
